Friday 27th - Learn to: Knit Cables - SOLD OUT

Cable knitting is a style of knitting in which textures of crossing layers are achieved by working stitches in a different order.


We will look at written and charted cable patterns, and traditional vs spiral cable needles. 


Materials: Please bring needles and yarn suitable to cast on a scarf (can be as thick or thin as you like, long as they'll work together). Different types of cable needles will be provided for you to use. You can then choose to purchase your favourite. 


Skill level: Comfortable with knitting & purling.

Enter the world of crochet.


Working with practice yarn, you'll begin to develop the skills needed. Then, with patience and tuition you'll reinforce the basic ideas that will enable you to create.

Sunday 1st - Learn to: Knitted Toe-Up Cast On - SOLD OUT

Toe-up cast ons!


We'll learn how to create a seamless cast on that can be used for more than just socks. We'll look at both Judy's Magic Cast On and the easier Turkish Cast on. 


Materials: Please bring yarn and needles with you (either a long needle for magic loop, or double pointed needles). These cast on methods are not suitable for short circulars (however socks can be completed on them after completing the toe). 


Skill level: comfortable with knitting with thinner yarns and needles. 


Note: we will not be knitting a specific project.

Friday 6th - Learn to: Knit

Enter the world of hand knitting.


After working with practise yarn, you'll start your first pattern - The Wheat Scarf. The Wheat Scarf has plenty of garter stitch and ribbing to allow new knitters to build and reinforce skills.


Materials: All materials are included in the cost of this class. You will take home your own needles, the beginning of your scarf and enough yarn to complete it.


Skill level: No experience required. You'll learn how to read a pattern, cast on, knit, purl, rib, use markers and cast off.

Saturday 14th - Brioche - SOLD OUT

 Brioche knitting creates a squishy, reversible fabric using two colours, resulting in stunning textures and patterns. In this workshop, you’ll master fundamental brioche stitches, including increases and decreases, ready to start knitting those gorgeous brioche patterns. Taught by Jo Shaw, author of Neat Knitting Techniques and Knitting Stitches Step by Step.

The following are all required and can be purchased from Nibbles, Needles and Hooks -

  • Knitting Needles - Size 3.75mm

Friday 20th - Learn to: Knit Socks - SOLD OUT

Enter the world of hand knitting - socks!


We’re going to jump in at the deep end today and start with casting on a sock – a full sized sock. This first sock will include all the techniques needed to make socks of any size.


There are two sessions for this course - on consecutive Fridays- please make sure you can attend both before booking. 


Warning – sock knitting is highly addictive.


Materials: All materials are included in the cost of this class. A drink will be provided on arrival each time. 


Skill level: Confident beginner. You need to knit and purl confidently. You will learn how to knit in the round (on double pointed needles or magic loop), turn the heel, pick up stitches, shape the gusset and graft the toe.


Session one: Friday 20th March 2:30 - 5pm

Session two: Friday 27th March 2:30 - 4pm

Sunday 22nd - Needle Felted Friends

Needle Felted Friends


Come and learn how to use felting needles and wool to make an adorable felted friend. Our 'friend' will be based on an egg shape then decorated to whatever animal you fancy. During the class we will go through making the centre structure for your animal from core wool and how to decorate it using the fibres provided.


Additional note – Caution sharp needles used, minimum age 16

Sunday 22nd - Tunisian Crochet for Beginners

Tunisian Crochet for Beginners


Get started with this exciting new skill. We will cover the basics of Tunisian crochet, including how to get started, three types of stitch and how to finish off your project. During the class we will practice the stitches on a small swatch.


Need to bring: Your choice of Tunisian crochet hook for working with DK yarn, DK yarn. Tunisian crochet hooks can be purchases from Nibbles, Needles and Hooks. 


Need to know: Basic crochet skills – how to make a chain and form crochet stitches.

Saturday 28th - Crochet: Pattern Reading & Charts

Struggling with reading patterns and charts - then this is the course for you!


Starting from the beginning with understanding terminology we'll then progress to working from patterns and charts, using examples written by our course tutor.


Materials: Please bring your own hook(s) and yarn to work with. If you have/use a smartphone please bring this along as well, although it's not crucial. A drink will be provide on arrival.


Skill level: you must be confident with chain, double and triple stitches as a minimum. This course is not to learn how to crochet/make stitches.

Friday 1st - Vivid Blanket Workshop - SOLD OUT

Vivid is knit one square at a time, then seamed together at the end. Each square is knit from the centre outward to the garter stitch border.


Squares can be knit in any weight yarn. The pattern is written for 4ply, DK and worsted/aran weights. 

You will learn the pinhole cast on and lace knitting (from charts or written instructions).


Materials: All materials are included in the cost of this class. You will receive a printed copy of the pattern. Fill in your details when booking to receive a digital copy & one for your Ravelry library (optional). You will take home your own needles and the beginning of your Vivid blanket.

Saturday 2nd - Intarsia

Intarsia or ‘Picture’ knitting is a technique that allows you to create stunning images in your knitting. Learn the basics and how to make Intarsia knitting easier, different yarn management methods, tips for making your knitting neater, and how to sew in those ends for the best finish.
